Before you come

What happens in a session

  • What happens in a session

Before the first session

  1. You get in touch

By email, or by booking a time directly. You do not have to explain everything up front. “I would like to book a first session” is enough.

  2. We find a time

You will be told what the session costs and how long it lasts before you commit to anything.

  3. You get the details in writing

Where to go, or the link if we are meeting online. What to bring, if anything.

The first session

It is a conversation. You will not be asked to do anything you have not agreed to.

  • We talk about what brought you here. You lead — as much or as little as you want to say.
  • I will ask some questions about your situation and what you are hoping for.
  • We talk about what working together might look like, and how often.
  • You decide whether to book again. There is no obligation to.

Things people ask

Do I have to talk the whole time? No. Silence is allowed. So is writing, drawing, or sitting with a task in your hands.

Can I keep my camera off online? Yes.

Can a parent come in? For children, usually yes, and we will agree it beforehand. For teenagers, that is the young person’s call as far as possible.

What if I change my mind when I get there? Then we stop. Nobody has to continue a session they do not want to be in.

What people bring

  • Anxiety — in children, teenagers and adults
  • Identity, and the shifts in it
  • Grief and loss
  • Major life transitions
  • Being neurodivergent in a world not built for you
  • Culture, heritage and belonging

How I can help

If we are meeting in person

Needed from Irna: the practical details of your room

What the building looks like from outside, where to park, whether there are stairs, what the waiting area is like, whether there is a quiet space, and what the lighting is like. This is the page where those details matter most: for an autistic client, knowing the room before arriving is often the difference between attending and cancelling.

If we are meeting online

Needed from Irna: your telehealth platform

Which platform you use, whether anything needs installing, and what happens if the connection drops mid-session.

When you are ready

Sessions are available online and in person. You do not have to explain everything to get in touch — saying you would like to book, or that you have a question, is enough.
